Live the legend at the real place, the real house, the real farm - the birthplace of Jesse and Frank, home to the family - mom Zerelda and dad the Reverend Robert James. See where the Pinkerton's fire bombed the farmhouse, killing their little brother and severing Zerelda's arm. View the authentic family artifacts, the dais where the funeral home propped up Jesse's body for the famous picture. See Zerelda's shotgun and her very large boots. Observe Jesse and Frank's pistols. This is the comprehensive collection of family heirlooms & artifacts. All this in Clay County, MO known then as "Little Dixie" where the root of the American Civil War had its violent beginning on the Missouri/Kansas border nearby. It's this era that the boys were born into. How else could their life of guerrilla warfare been any different?

Jesse James Farm Home site is open from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday-Saturday and noon to 4:00pm on Sunday. Excursion includes film about the James Family, self-guided museum tour on site, and docent guided tour of the James home. The majority of furniture and pictures are family heirlooms. There is an excellent gift shop on site with books and Jesse James related toys, games, collectibles and jewelry. The family is buried in nearby Mt. Olivet Cemetery- accessible by car or passenger van. Jesse James farm is 35 minutes by car from downtown Kansas City, Missouri and 45 minutes by car from Kansas City International Airport (MCI).
